Barcelona's Museu d'Historia de la Ciutat (the Museum of the History of the City) has an exhibit showing the ruins of the Roman city Julia Faventia. The exhibit has a series of catwalks over the ruins, all inside a large building. The visitor can see the foundations, walls, and interiors of buildings, with the functionalities of the rooms indicated by signage. For example, there are rooms where wine was made and stored; rooms with large vats where cloth was dyed, with channels for draining the vats; and rooms where garum was made and stored. Garum is a pungent condiment made from fish, and was often added to wine to enhance its flavor. The garum produced in Barcelona was known as the best in the empire. Unfortunately, since no photographs are allowed inside the museum, none can be displayed here.
