This Roman Aqueduct, called the San Lazaro Aqueduct, was one of two serving the city of Augusta Emerita. Its initial sections ran underground, and drew from several streams and springs to the north and north-east of the city. A later aqueduct, called the "modern" aqueduct, was built by the Moors.
